  • MotoGP Indonesian GP: Jorge Martin Wins at Mandalika, Extends Championship Lead

  • Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia took place at Mandalika International Street Circuit in Central Lombok, Indonesia on September 29, 2024.

In the race, nine riders slumped into early exits, and just 12 of the 21 starters finished.
Jorge Martin (Pramac Ducati) took his third victory of the season. It is his first win at Mandalika. Since being promoted to the premier class, he had never won at this circuit before.
Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) finished 2nd, taking his fourth podium of 2024. After the race, Pedro Acosta was investigated for potential low tyre pressure, but was cleared due to a “leaking wheel rim” while.
After a poor start, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) recovered well to finish 3rd.
This result marks Jorge Martin leads to extend 21 points over Francesco Bagnaia in the Championship.
Franco Morbidelli (Pramac Ducati) was 4th ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (VR46 Ducati). It is his best result of 2024.
Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) and Fabio Quartararo (Monster Yamaha) finished 6th and 7th respectively.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) was 8th and was investigated for potential low tyre pressure after the race. Finally he was cleared.
Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Aprilia) rounded out the top 10.
  • Jorge Martin said, “Yeah, I got revenge from Mandalika. After last season's crash, today was a difficult race, and after yesterday's crash also. After 13 laps I had some ghosts on my mind in corner 11, and then every lap in corner 16. I was trying to be really careful. We had a lot of wind from the side in that part. I was struggling to turn, it was like if I was riding a scooter. I know I was losing a lot in that part to Acosta, but I was thinking 'Ok, if I lose here I push in other parts'. So, I think I was really careful understanding the situation at the start of the race and then trying to push a bit more every lap. Acosta was incredible, he was pushing. Even the laps that I was trying to make a gap, he was staying at under one second. So, for sure he is strong and I'm happy I performed really good. I mean, I tried to be calm always. I tried to be my best version, and even if the rider behind is one tenth or eight, it's important to do the same things. I didn't try to change or push more or less. I was at my maximum, so it was Pedro who was catching and making mistakes. I was trying to do always the same thing. This is the way I try to perform to be better.”
