  • MotoGP Emilia Romagna GP: Francesco Bagnaia Takes Pole Position & Wins Sprint Race at Misano

  • The Round 14 of MotoGP 2024, Gran Premio Pramac dell'Emilia-Romagna took place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano Adriatico on September 21, 2024.

The Emilia Romagna GP is the second of two consecutive Misano rounds, having been added to the calendar in place of the cancelled Kazakhstan GP .
This time, Alex Rins Monster Yamaha) has withdrawn from the event due to the flu.
In Qualifying, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) took his third pole position of the season, breaking his own lap record, following San Marino GP on the same circuit.
Jorge Martin (Pramac Ducati) claimed provisional pole with a lap record of his own, but Francesco Bagnaia went more than two-tenths of a second faster, finally he was 2nd.
Enea Bastianini ((Ducati Lenovo) was 3rd and will start alongside his team-mate Francesco Bagnaia on the front row.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) took the 4th position, despite having only a single soft tyre left for his time attack.
Following him, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech) was 5th and Marco Bezzecchi (VR46 Ducati) was 6th.
San Marino GP winner Marc Marquez (Gresini Ducati) crashed early in Q2, but returned on the second bike to finish in seventh place.
  • Francesco Bagnaia said, “Yesterday I said it could be difficult for the temperature and it was more or less the situation, because it was difficult to push like we wanted in the left corners. But I'm very happy because being in both positions is the most important thing and we stand in the best position possible to try to win this afternoon (in the sprint).”

In the Sprint Race, Francesco Bagnaia claimed his fourth Sprint Race victory of the season.
Jorge Martin led the race, but was overtaken by Francesco Bagnaia with 6 laps to go, and finished in 2nd place.
It sees Francesco Bagnaia close the gap to Jorge Martin in the Riders' Standings, reducing it to just four points.
Enea Bastianini finished in 3rd place, despite track limit warnings.
Marc Marquez was 4th, moving up from starting in 7th. Pedro Acosta was 5th ahead of Brad Binder, who dropped down to 6th after making an impressive launch from 4th on the grid.
Fabio Quartararo (Monster Yamaha), Marco Bezzecchi, and Franco Morbidelli (Pramac Ducati) rounded out the top 9 and scored points.
  • Francesco Bagnaia said, “Super happy for what happened, for the race, because I think me and Jorge did something incredible in terms of pace: six seconds faster than two weeks ago, It's impressive. The lap times we were doing were [good enough] to start on the second row in qualifying, so this means a lot to me, to us. And tomorrow will be the same. So, we need to start better than today because I lost again two places and tomorrow I will try to do the best start as possible and try to set my pace because I think we have some good potential to manage the gap. We had a little bit of difference compared to two weeks ago, which was that my physical condition was better. So, I was able to use my body better to control the movement, to control the tyres. And it helped a lot because when it was remaining six laps I overtook him and from that moment I tried to push again to open the gap and control the gap. I needed this mistakes because it was very difficult to have an attempt. But I was planning to do it in one or two laps, but surely being 100% physical helped a lot. Corner 14, but also corner two, corner four, corner six. Every time we have to change direction is where I'm gaining a bit. It was risky for sure but for tomorrow we will be important to invent something in case we are behind. Luckily, it was easy to control. But the white lines after they repainted them are very slippery and I don't think they did a good job in this case.”
