  • MotoGP German GP: Jorge Martin Takes Pole Position & Wins Sprint Race in Germany

  • The Round 9 of MotoGP 2024, Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland took place at Sachsenring Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany on July 6, 2024.

This marks their first front row start in 2024.
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) was 4th and Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati) was 5th despite his late crash.
Franco Morbidelli (Pramac Ducati) finished in 6th place and will start on the second row.

  • In the Sprint Race, Jorge Martin claimed his fourth victory of 2024 after beating a three-way battle against Miguel Oliveira and Francesco Bagnaia.
Miguel Oliveira was runner-up finish. This marks the first podium for him and his team Trackhouse.
Francesco Bagnaia was 3rd and took his third podium in row following Italian GP and Dutch GP.
His team-mate Enea Bastianini finished in 4th place. Franco Morbidelli was 5th ahead of Marc Marquez and Maverick Vinales.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) and Alex Marquez finished in 8th and 9th place, respectively, they got the sprint race points.
This race result marks Jorge Martin extended his Championship lead to 15 points.
  • Jorge Martin said, “It's always nice to win. Here we were strong and I had to take the opportunity. I wasn't at 100% and was struggling a bit even though I was able to gain those positions. Then I tried to put a strong pace while managing the front and rear tyres. Tomorrow will be a long race but for the moment I'm really happy. I had to overtake really fast because if I was back behind I would have gone backwards. The pressures are always complicated. We did our best and it was a victory. Tomorrow we will try again. It was a clever move and was a good one. Pecco was defending a lot under braking. At that point I knew he wouldn't expect a move. Tomorrow I hope to stay first in the first corner because to overtake him, he will be prepared everywhere.”
