Noah Kahan Announces New Album “I Was / I Am”, Releases New Song “Godlight”
American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan announced his sophomore album “I Was / I Am” would be released on September 17, 2021.
The album comprises of 10-track and is his first LP in two years.
From the album, he unveiled the second single “Godlight” on June 30th, following “Part of Me”.
It was written by Noah Kahan and produced by Mark Rankin.
Noah Kahan shared on social media, “I started making music when I was 8 years old. Nobody listened or cared for many many years, but I forced myself to keep going, playing open mics where strangers ate dinner while I played Jason Mraz covers. I did it because I loved it, and because it made me feel heard. I didn't care if it was one person listening or many. Suddenly, people started to give a shit. People started to learn my lyrics, and I started to play shows all over the country. I was living my dream but felt trapped in it. I didn't feel the same connection to the music anymore. I had all this attention, and I felt like I cared too much about keeping it, instead of caring about the music that brought me there in the first place. I noticed it hurting my relationships and affecting my writing. I worked so hard to get my foot in the door that I didn't know what to do when I finally got in that room. I became deeply depressed and emotionally vacant. I thought a lot about what the younger version of me would think about me. I wrote this song trying to make him proud. It's called 'Godlight' and I hope you love it.”- source : Spotify
