Jack Galloway Releases Debut EP “Only Hours In”: Streaming
London-based alt-rock singer-songwriter Jack Galloway released his debut EP “Only Hours In” on June 24, 2021.
The EP comprises of 5-track , featuring '80s and '90s stadium style pop/rock music, peppered with a west-coast rock texture and the influence of modern country music.
It was produced and written by Jack Galloway (except the fourth track “Blame It on the Rain”, which was written by Bridget Benenate and Sara Eker).
Jack Galloway shared on social media, “Since I was 12 years old, learning to play the guitar and going to every rock gig I could, admiring the greats like Guns, Zep, Aerosmith, etc, I’ve wanted to make my own music, play songs on stage and ultimately release albums that people will listen to and enjoy!! For me, there’s nothing like knowing someone else has been made to feel something by a song you wrote and recorded 🖤 My hope is that come Thursday, the 5 songs I’m releasing to the world will resonate with you guys in some way! 🙏”- Jack Galloway explained track-by-track for the EP below.
“End Of This Road”
“This song follows a narrative I based upon a pretty toxic, emotionally traumatic relationship I was in a few years ago. My goal is for you guys to have two takeaways from the track: 1. Enjoy a pop-country meets stadium-rock jam! 😉 2. Consider it a warning if you find yourself in a similar situation. As hard as it may be in the short-term, there is nothing wrong with holding up your hands to a partner who is grinding down your soul and making you miserable, and going “I’m sorry. But I’m out!” Remember … Short term sadness is better than long term misery! And misery comes in many forms.”
“Falling For You”
“Falling For You isn’t really about one relationship - it’s more about any first date you go on where you know you’re in deep with them straight away!” The accompanying music video, which was filmed in Portugal, captures the un-staged moments caught on camera over a weekend with Jack and his friends spending time at the beach, drinking and partying. “Watching the video, you can just see the love between all of us. The fact that the song itself is about a romantic love story but the music video reflects a more important familial love and friendship is pretty sweet.”
“Anima”
“I know that people who I’ve been romantically involved with in the past have been frustrated with certain things within me because I am quite free-spirited, I’m a dreamer, and a lot of people find these traits quite disruptive/difficult to pin down. So I put the shoe on the other foot and am singing this song about a girl who embodies these personality characteristics. The essence of the song is that no matter how much I try to reach out to her, I can’t keep her.”
“Blame It on the Rain”
“The thing about getting your heart broken is that a lot of the time, you’re keeping the pain locked away, whether it’s out of pride, denial, or just wanting to appear to the people around you like you’re not as gutted as you are inside, it’s a thing we often do – pretending like we’re okay when we’re not. I think the imagery of blaming your tears on the rain was the closest thing to capturing how I felt.”
“2020 Won”
“Many of you will know the frustration I believe I’ve always felt toward the establishment / mainstream, whether it be how vapid pop culture has become, the way the media report ... our wise and benevolent leaders! And so ... more frustrated than ever during January 2021, I wrote this song whilst I was in Mexico just to vent and get some feelings off my chest. And I realised it could actually make a pretty catchy stadium-rock anthem. A week in the studio later, and here we are! 😊🤷🏼♂️ The song is a departure from the more country-oriented sound I’ve sported so far in this project, and introduces the musical direction I’m headed in!” - source : Apple Music
