Bre Kennedy Releases New Song “Control”
Nashville based alt-pop singer-songwriter Bre Kennedy released a new song “Control” with an accompanying music video on June 18, 2021.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming sophomore album “Note To Self”, following “Progress” and “Wilburn Street”.
The video was directed by Aliegh Shields and Jason Lee Denton.
Bre Kennedy said of the song, “'Control' is my 3rd single off my new album "Note To Self" coming this August. This was the first song I wrote in a zoom session over quarantine. I wrote it as an anthemic celebration of letting go of the things I can't control in my life. After the last year we all experienced, I wanted to write a song that felt like you could scream/sing in your car after a long day. I will be releasing an official music video for 'Control.'”
The new album is expected to be released in August 2021.- She shared on social media, “'Control' started over a session with Hadley Kennary on a google doc, then I ran away to a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains with my favorite people to start carving at it, then I cut vocals in a bedroom, then I asked my friends Matthew S. Nelson & Avery Bright to add strings & they made me cry, then Kyle Dreaden brought all the pieces together & made it sound like heaven was crying, then I brained stormed a music video idea with the insanely talented Jason Lee Denton & Aliegh Shields & we brought it to life the local Mockingbird Theater & now it's out in the world. 😭✨”

She continued, “This song was an a-ha moment for me. 'Oh… I need to chill the hell out'. I went into making this album a different person. I wrote my way through to exposing the fears of wanting so badly to control the outcome of my life. After years of trying to hold on to everything that I thought I knew my biggest lesson has been that I have 0 control over what happens. Hands up. Let go. Life's more interesting that way.”
She added, “I think it's easy to get caught up in the daily routine of gripping close to the things we know & the ideas we want to keep close but what if those things aren't serving us anymore & we're just missing out on all the things we don't know yet? 'Control' feels like the moment I surrendered in celebration … I hope this song finds you in a similar time, place & moment ✨Hands up. Let go.” - source : SoundCloud
