  • Aly & AJ Releases New Album “a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun”: Streaming

  • American pop-rock duo Aly & AJ released their fourth studio album “a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun” on May 7, 2021.

It is the first LP in 14 years and the first album for the duo as an independent artist.
The album comprises of 12-track, produced by Yves Rothman. The duo co-wrote the songs with Yves Rothman, Jorge Elbrecht and Jamie Sierota, who is better known as a guitarist of Echosmith. The album was recorded at Sunset Sound in California.
Aly & AJ shared on social media, “a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun is finally out today in the 🌏. This album took us over a year & 9 months to complete. From those first few sessions with Yves Rothman rewriting the lyrics to Pretty Places that we had originally started with Jamie Sierota years ago, to the trips to denver with Jorge Elbrecht in the winter cold. This album very quickly revealed herself to us and we just stood by and ushered her in, because there was nothing else we could do but watch in amazement at these songs being quietly formed. Special thanks to our fearless leader Yves Rothman who pushed us to make the album we always knew was inside of us. Your lil sisters love you 💗To Jorge Elbrecht for meeting us at Oaks Gourmet on that random day in LA, which led to all of the songs we wrote together over the course of a couple months. We admire you so!”
  • “It's been 13 years since we released a full album, and we ended up with more material than we ever expected,” Aly & AJ said in a statement. “We weirdly held an unnatural confidence over the recording & writing process this year (even when things would start and stop given all of the Covid shutdowns). It was like we were meant to make this music regardless of the world falling into the abyss because it was the record we were always born to make.”
The duo continued, “That's what music is all about though at the end of the day. The SONGS! The way it makes you feel, the memories you associate with it, the healing it brings, the celebration a chorus delivers you when your windows are rolled down and life feels perfect for that one fleeting moment. The feeling of getting back out into the sun.”
They said, “The feel of this record is just feel good. It's a very West Coast album. I think for us, we wanted to make a record that made people feel good again, and that made people feel hopeful again in a time where feeling good and feeling hopeful seems so strange and seems so unnatural. We're getting a lot of inspiration from music from the '90s, music from the '60s and '70s. It feels cool to be able to play with these other styles of instrumentation that we wouldn't normally have on stage; there's a slide guitar and a horn section . . . It's definitely widening our palette with our own musical knowledge.”
