  • Post Malone Performs on Pokémon 25 Virtual Concert Experience

  • Back in January, The Pokemon Company announced a special music program, called P25 Music, to celebrate Pokemon's 25th anniversary in partnership with Universal Music Group.

American rapper Post Malone performed on Virtual Concert Experience as the 25th anniversary of Pokémon on February 27, 2021.
His CG character played his smash hits “Congratulations”, “Psycho”, “Circles” and a cover of Hootie & the Blowfish's “Only Wanna Be With You” around a menagerie of familiar Pokemon, such as Torterra, Gyarados, Braviary, Sharpedo, Charizard, and even mythical Pokemon like Lugia, Celebi, and Groudon.
“Only Wanna Be With You”, which was released on February 26, is a part of a continuing musical celebration of Pokémon set to roll out over the course of the year, with artists like Katy Perry, J Balvin, and more set to release new music in the months ahead.
“I've always been a fan of the band and Darius, [this song is] one of my favorites, and it was super fun to cover,” Post Malone said of the song in a statement. “The song was released 25 years ago, which also happens to be when Pokémon got its start.”
“Pokemon 25: The Album”, featuring 14-track by 11 different artists, will be released in Fall 2021.
