Charlotte Cardin Announces Debut Album “Phoenix”, Drops New Song “Meaningless”
Canadian electro-pop singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin announced her debut album “Phoenix” will be released on April 23, 2021 via Atlantic Records.
From the album, she unveiled a new song “Meaningless” on February 12th, following “Daddy” and “Passive Aggressive”.
It was written by Charlotte Cardin. The accompanying music video was directed by Norman Wong.
Charlotte Cardin shared on social media, “My favorite song I have ever released. The whole process around Meaningless (writing/recording/making the video) has made me grow in ways I can't even explain. The song is about choosing momentary relief over any long lasting numbness. The song is about our wounds and addictions. The song is about love. The song is about how our connection to one another is our only salvation. Thank you @jason_brando for helping me put words on how I have always felt and writing this one with me. Thank you @norman__wong for your trust and for directing this video I am so proud of.”- The debut album comprises of 13-track, produced by Connor Seidel, Jason Brando and Marc-André Gilbert.
“It's the first album, technically, because I'd only released an EP,” Charlotte Cardin said. “So it's still going to sound like me, but we definitely wrote an album that would be really fun to perform.”
She told CBC about the album, “The whole album is based on my obsession with feelings and feeling emotions that are very raw, and that sometimes will hurt will sometimes make you feel amazing and I'm just quite obsessed with feelings and general and I've actually the only reason why I write music is because for me it's such a natural way to process those very strong emotions.” - source : Spotify
