  • The Dumes Releases New Song “Liquor & High”

  • Los Angeles-based alt-rock band The Dumes released a new song “Liquor & High” with an accompanying music video on October 30th.

The song will appear on their upcoming debut EP “Everything Is Horrible”, which is expected to be released in earlier 2021. The video was directed by Alison Roberto.
The band recorded the song at the legendary Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood, CA.
Frontwoman Elodie Tomlinson explains, “I feel like at the beginning of any relationship, you should have to provide some kind of resume. This song is my resume. My references will say I’m crazy, but at least I’m telling you upfront so you won’t be caught off guard. You already know.”
She continues, “I was really busy at the time waiting tables, teaching kids how to play music, and my schedule was booked. I had a relationship at the time, and people in my life were frustrated with me. I didn’t have any time, and I was feeling a lot of guilt about it. When I wrote this, it was like, ‘Yeah, dude, I’m a piece of shit.’ I brought it into the practice room later, and I thought, ‘I’m bummed I was feeling so guilty about having a lot going on. I’m trying to get something done, and you should support that.’ Then, the song turned into [an anthem] about not being sorry.”
The band worked with Grammy-winning producer Joe Chiccarelli. “From the first moment I heard it, I thought this was a strong tune with lots of potential,” says Joe Chiccarelli. “Elodie’s voice was super confident and commanding in the song. It seemed like the perfect breakthrough track for the band.”
