Tate McRae Performs “you broke me first” at 2020 MTV Video Music Awards
Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae performed “you broke me first” at 2020 MTV Video Music Awards.
She was nominated for Push Best New Artist. The song was released back in April from her upcoming sophomore EP. It was written by Victoria Zaro, Blake Harnage and Tate McRae.
Tate McRae said of the song, “This song is about someone in a relationship who couldn't care less for the other person and then 6 months later decides to crawl back. It's the feeling of knowing how much they meant to you, but this time not letting them back in.”
The official music video was directed by Tate McRae herself. She shared on social media, “ITS OUT EVERYWHERE GO STREAM GO WATCH GO ENJOY:) during a global pandemic i put together a music video. this was taped to the front of my moms car, driving backwards, being filmed on my iphone, on a random rooftop. can't believe we actually put something together in this crazy time. directed this on my own:) &very very grateful for my team. i rlly hope u guys enjoy this song i wrote. it means a lot to me. love you guys 🖤”
Following the song, she released her latest song “don't be sad” on August 20. The accompanying music video was directed by Tate McRae and Eddie Mandell.- QrZtKqz0SkE
