Amy Shark Returns With New Song “Everybody Rise”
Australian pop singer-songwriter Amy Shark returned with a new song “Everybody Rise” on June 19th.
It is her first single since her debut album “Love Monster” and is the first taste of her long-awaited sophomore album.
“I haven’t put any music out in 2 years or something, ” Amy Shark said. “Mainly because I wanted to make sure this next body of work wasn’t just different from the last stuff. I wanted it to be, like, better and bigger and the best that, you know, I possibly could do. I feel like I really challenged myself.”
The track was written by Joel Little and Amy Shark. The accompanying music video was directed by Patrick Tohill.
The song came from her personal experience of social media with creepy messages from male fans.
“I wasn’t going to say this... it’s a little creepy but you’ll cope," she told Hobba & Hing on triple j Drive. “I’m definitely no stranger to that feeling, which is kind of sad. But I like how I tackled it in this song, it really makes everyone feel like they’re in it together.”
She continued, "These guys were breaching on stalker-y questions. One of them ended with ‘Look, we just wanna know what it’s like to be with Amy'. It’s such a worldly, understandable topic... I don’t see myself like that at all. To have anyone wanna know anything about me is quite weird still.”- Eqok8kg4hlE
