Esmé Returns With New Song “ELLA”
Sydney-based singer-songwriter Esmé is back. She released a new song “ELLA” since her 2017 debut song “Come With Me”.
Her debut song was Jazz influence slow ballad. But the new song adds an electro-pop sound essence to the jazz element.
“I was always drawn to a certain kind of jazz voice growing up. A breathy sound that almost seems fragile, but it isn’t, and often reminiscent of a horn instrument, like Chet Baker,” Esmé said in her press release. “Listening to voices like Ella Fitzgerald always took me to a lighter place when I was young; this song kind of pays homage to that feeling, and to her.”
She added “It is about facing feelings of anxiety and recognizing the pattern of it in a family line and knowing I needed to change it.”
After the release of the song, she has delivered a short cover of Björk's “Venus As A Boy” via SoundCloud. The track is arranged in jazz style.-
