  • Bebe Rexha Performs “I’m A Mess” at the iHeartRadio Theater

  • Back in December 2018, American singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha appeared on The Honda Stage at the iHeartRadio Theatre in New York, where she performed “I’m A Mess”.

The live show aired with streaming via YouTube. On January 28, 2019, she revealed the live video, directed by Eric Branco.
The song is included on her debut album "Expectations" and written by Bebe Rexha, Justin Tranter, Jussifer, Meredith Brooks and Shelly Peiken. The track reached No. 35 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The chorus of this song features a musical interpolation of 90’s pop-rock song’s chorus “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks.
After making the connection, she added his name in credit as a co-writer.
  • She said of the song, "Usually when I go into the studio, I have some lyrics written down, and I speak to the other collaborators, and say, “This is what we’re gonna do today.” But with “I’m a Mess,” it was very much in the moment. I walked into the studio with mascara running down my face, and I was super bummed out, because I was just having a hard time loving myself and all my imperfections. There was a guy that I liked that didn’t like me, and I walked into the studio and told other writers, “I’m so sorry, I’m just such a mess today.” And Justin Tranter, who’s an incredible song writer was like, “That is the song title.” He’s like, “We’re writing a song called ‘I’m a Mess.’” And that’s just how it happened."
