Alessia Cara Premieres New Music Video for “Not Today”
Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara has dropped a new music video for “Not Today”.
She premiered the song on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show on November 13th.
The song was written about the phase that precedes healing after the end of a relationship. "It’s about capturing that in-between phase, and reminding myself that things do get better but it’s okay to just say “You know what? Not today. Today I need to be in bed, I need to be sad, and just throw myself a pity party." she said.
The video was inspired by Wes Anderson’s films. “I wanted to throw in some references to his movies,” Alessia Cara said. “See if you can catch them.”
The song will appear on her upcoming sophomore album "The Pains of Growing", which is out November 30th.
All songs of the album are written by Alessia Cara herself, “I just thought, there’s no better person to write this than me. It was so personal to me. It was a really sacred thing; I didn’t want anyone to know exactly what I was going through,” she told Rolling Stone. “When you have full control, you can give away as much as you want to give away, and be as honest as you want and you know what it means and no one understands you better than you.”- 0jMPXRDYpkQ
