Greyson Chance Premieres New Music Video for “Good As Gold”
American singer-songwriter Greyson Chance has shared a new music video for “Good As Gold”. The video was premiered exclusively on Billboard.
The song was released back in June, written by Greyson Chance himself. He first performed the song live at the Daydream Festival in Shanghai, China on April 15, 2018.
The video features the Lakota tribe in South Dakota and is directed by Bobby Hannaford, who had previously shot a documentary on the Lakota Reservation of Pine Ridge about teen suicide.
Also, all proceeds made from the video will go directly to the Lakota community, specifically towards a youth center in Pine Ridge.
“Being born and raised in Oklahoma had previously informed me of the inconsistencies that are common among Americans when approaching and discussing Native issues,” Greyson Chance told Billboard. “We too often ignore and rearrange our dark history to our own suitable liking, and in modern times we hold a blind eye to the reservations that fall just outside of our cities. Yet, what surprised me the most when visiting Pine Ridge and speaking to the local people was not their poverty, but rather their optimism, their hope, their perseverance, and their love.”
He continued, “The Lakota were and are survivors; they are one people united underneath compassion and a desire to help one another. Seeing this with my own eyes was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.”- He wrote about visual projects on Facebook, "This summer, I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. while in Pine Ridge, I met various people apart of the Lakota tribe. It was a transformative experience meeting so many strong and positive individuals despite the many difficulties and hardships they face on a daily basis. We bonded over a song that I wrote in order to endure many challenging times in my own life. Thanks to @bobbyhanaford we were able to create a visual project that I am most proud of."
