  • The Alchemist Premieres New Song “Try My Hand” featuring Mobb Deep

  • Last month, American hip hop duo Mobb Deep's member Prodigy, aka Albert Johnson died at 42 in Las Vegas. He had battled sickle cell anemia for most of his life.

Longtime collaborator with Prodigy, American DJ Daniel Alan Maman, aka The Alchemist has released a new song "Try My Hand" featuring Mobb Deep via SoundCloud.
About the song, he tweeted, "P will never die! One last time," and wrote "For my brother" on SoundCloud.
Alchemist and Prodigy worked closely throughout their careers. They released two collaborative albums, which were 2007’s "Return of the Mac" and 2013’s "Albert Einstein". Also, Alchemist produced a number of Mobb Deep songs, beginning with two tracks on 1999’s "Murda Muzik".
  • Mobb Deep was formed in New York City in 1992. The group consisted of Havoc and Prodigy. They became one of the most successful rap duos in hip hop, having sold over three million records. The duo briefly disbanded in 2012, but later reunited.
Prodigy died on June 20, 2017, and members of the hip-hop community have posted tributes to Prodigy online, including Nas, Lil Wayne, Ghostface Killah, Q-Tip, Method Man, Wiz Khalifa, Big Boi and Questlove.
"I can’t even listen to ‘Shook Ones,’ or any songs. I can hardly look at the pictures," Havoc said last month in his first statement after Prodigy’s passing.
