  • Portland Returns with New Song “Lay Me Down”

  • Belgian dream pop band Portland returned with a new song “Lay Me Down” on April 29, 2025.

The song is their first music in two years since the 2023 album “Departures”.
Also, it is the first release since the band frontman Jente Pironet completed rehabilitation for a brain tumour, which he was diagnosed with in 2023.
On the track, he looks back on the difficult period and expresses an irrepressible zest for life.
The band sings, “It's hard to see / What's still left of me / All these fears will last.” They continued, “Is there a place / Where I can feel, not being misplaced / What a shame, endless twilight.”
The track was written by Jente Pironet, and Tobie Speleman, who also produced it.
  • Jente Pironet told Dutch radio station Studio Brussel, "I can hardly understand what all happened, I've gone completely on auto pilot in the last few years. Sometimes my surroundings need to remind me to slow down.”

The song will appear on their upcoming third studio album, which is set to be released later this year.
Jente Pironet said, “Hard to believe it's finally out. Ready to start this beautiful new journey. The first released track of the new album.”
