James Arthur Releases New Album “PISCES”
British singer-songwriter James Arthur released his sixth studio album “PISCES” on April 25, 2025 via Columbia.
It is his first album in a year since the 2024 album “Bitter Sweet Love”.
Initially, the album was supposed to be released on March 21, 2025, but was pushed back to April 25.
He announced last month, “I promise it's for a good reason. There's a film. A full visual album. And it's just not quite ready yet. I really want you to experience it the way I've imagined, so we need a little more time to get it right.”
The album comprises 12 songs and is built on his identity as a Pisces, which is reflected in its duality. Produced by Steve Solomon and TMS.
James Arthur said of the album title, “I'm a Pisces, and I've always resonated with those traits. Each track on this album is a part of me, a building block of who I am. PISCES just felt like the natural title to bring everything together.”
He continued, “I wanted to create music that makes people feel something - and gives fans a real insight into who I am. The highs and the lows, the dreams and the reality. That duality is at the heart of every song on this album.”- He said of the album, “I wanted this album to have a different feel to any other project. People have come to expect big, chesty, emotional, raspy vocals and ballads from me. I like to think I've got a few strings to my bow and I don't really ever aim to do one thing. It was as simple as me wanting to approach the songs and my vocal delivery in a more gentle way and make more dreamy sound.”
He continued, “The reins are off. I really feel all of these songs are part of me, and they make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I wanted to make music that makes people feel something and give fans an insight into who I really am - the ups and downs, the dreams and reality of being a Pisces. The duality is reflected in these songs, and I also wanted to showcase a new side of myself, with new sounds and a deeper layer of vulnerability.” -
He explained about some tracks for the album.
“ADHD”
“The song 'ADHD' is about being loved in the way you want to be loved. When you experience that, it's something truly special, especially if you tend to be self-deprecating or have trouble receiving love due to issues or conditions that others might not understand. ADHD is one of those conditions I have that some people might not fully understand - but when someone accepts you for all your flaws, it can feel like your dreams are a reality.”
“Celebrate”
“There's been many times over the course of my life where I've lost the ability to live in the moment or I've been in a room full of people yet somehow I still felt alone. We're always striving for more and we forget to exercise gratitude for the things that we do have or have achieved and therefore we fail to enjoy those special moments. People often tell me I should celebrate more but the truth is I'm not very good at it so I wrote this song about that very thing. I hope it makes you feel something.”
