  • Kali Uchis Premieres New Song “ILYSMIH” on BBC Radio 1

  • Colombian-American singer-songwriter Kali Uchis premiered a new song “ILYSMIH” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is second single off of her upcoming fifth studio album “Sincerely,”, which is set to be released on May 9, 2025 via Capitol Records.
The acronym “ILYSMIH” means “I love you so much it hurts”.
The song was written after giving birth, she said she wrote it “with my baby napping beside me after giving birth.”
The track was written and produced by Kali Uchis, with production by Josh Crocker and Dylan Wiggins.

She said of the song in a statement, “'ILYSMIH' is me sharing a piece of my heart with the world. Living a life that is rich in love and inner peace hasn't come easy. I hope this song will find anyone who needs it.”
  • Kali Uchis told Jack Saunders about the song, “The song is about my son. But art is subjective, so people could dedicate it to whoever they want. Me personally, it's about my son.”

She continued, “In regards to the songwriting process of the song, I was inspired by just the heart wrenching feeling of looking into my baby's eyes for the first time is really a feeling that can't be described by anything except for the song. And I had to put it into some type of art and make it sonically, bring it to life, because the feeling is just like no other. So every time that I would look into my son's eyes, I would just cry immediately, because I felt like he was really singing to my soul. I was really singing to his soul. And it was just a such a deep connection that it inspired me to immediately start writing.”

  • The new album comprises 14 songs, produced by Josh Crocker, Kali Uchis and Sir Dylan.
It is her first album in a year since the 2024 Spanish-language album “Orquídeas”.

She told Jack Saunders about the album, “I would say, like for me growing up, I use music a lot as an escape. And now as an adult and as a musician and an artist, I use music still as an escape, but I use creating music as an escape. And so I hope that, and also my relief. And it's my way to just make beauty out of every experience that I have. And I hope that anyone who listens to it is able to let it, assist them in whatever they may be going through, or whatever changes they may be going through in their life.”
