Skinny Lister Releases New Song “Song From The Yonder”
British folk-rock band Skinny Lister, consisting of Dan Heptinstall (lead vocal), Max Thomas (melodeon/mandolin), Lorna Thomas (ukulele), Scott Milsom (bass) and Tim Hillsdon (drums), released the title track of their upcoming seventh studio album “Song From The Yonder” on April 25, 2025.
It is the third and final pre-release single ahead of the album release. The album is set to be released on May 9, 2025 via Xtra Mile Recordings.
The song is a striking duet to stir the soul. Set to a score of swaying celtic arrangements, the song acts as an open and earnest conversation between the couple about love, life, and longing.
It was written and produced by Daniel Heptinstall.
The band lead singer Dan Heptinstall said of the song, “'Song From The Yonder' is a proper conversational duet between Dan and Lorna. It's a song about longing and returning from distant travels to where the heart is. It's also a song about looking beyond petty disagreements, putting things in perspective and embracing the things that connect us.”- He continued, “We've not properly explored this duelling vocal approach since 'George's Glass' from our album 'Down On Deptford Broadway', and it was a lot of fun to return to writing and recording a track with this kind of dynamic. It's also a good companion to a track like 'Six Whiskies' - with its 'end of the night' 'drunken waltz' feel.”
The new album comprises a 11-track, produced by Dan Heptinstall, its core tracks were recorded live, and left unedited.
On the album, the band revels in their nostalgic touchstones, while facing the future with a wide-eyed sense of optimism and a warming reverence for what has been. -
Dan Heptinstall said of the album, “'Songs From The Yonder' carries on where our last album - 'Shanty Punk' - left off. But as well as the upbeat drinking songs and shanty style sing-alongs, which are as up front and prominent as ever, this time we've allowed ourselves a few more tender moments. It's always nice to connect with that more contemplative side of our sound, which has been a major part of what we've done since our first album.” - source : Apple Music
