Myles Smith Releases New Song “My First Heartbreak”
British singer-songwriter Myles Smith released a new song “My First Heartbreak” along with a music video on April 25, 2025.
The song was released after the announcement of the TIME 100 list, in which he was featured as a pioneer.
The track describes a painful childhood memory of his father leaving home and how that impacted him in the long term.
It was written by Andrea Rocha and Myles Smith. Produced by Ehren Ebbage and Peter Fenn.
The music video was directed by Femi “Ladi” Oladigbolu.
Myles Smith said of the song, “This song is a reflection on my childhood and the impact of my father leaving. It’s about the pain and confusion I felt as a child, trying to make sense of why he wasn’t there and wrestling with feelings of self-blame. Even though he left, there’s still this undeniable connection - I see parts of him in me, in my features, in who I am. That bittersweet realisation is at the core of the song.”- He continued, “As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to terms with that pain and used it to shape the person I want to be. This song is as much about heartbreak as it is about resilience and hope. It’s about breaking the cycle, learning from what I didn’t have and promising myself that I’ll be the kind of father who never leaves.”
Myles Smith shared on social media, “This past week has been one of the most surreal of my life. Releasing My First Heartbreak was terrifying and freeing all at once. It’s a song that’s lived with me for years, and seeing how it’s connected with so many of you has honestly floored me. I’m so grateful.” -
He added, “And then to be at the TIME 100 Gala standing among people who’ve changed the world was something I’ll never forget. None of it feels real without the people who’ve believed in me from the start. Thank you for giving me the courage to keep going. I’ll never stop being thankful.”
