Cheetah & Nia Archives Premiere New Song “Get Loose” on BBC Radio 1
Bristol-based DJ Cheetah and London-based DJ Nia Archives teamed up to premiere their new collaborative song “Get Loose” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the first release on Nia Archives's own label Up Ya Archives Records. She launched the new label this year.
The track was written and produced by Cheetah and Nia Archives. The accompanying music video was directed by Jay-D.
Cheetah said of the song, “The track came together pretty naturally. It’s essentially an ode to soundsystem and party culture. It’s about that feeling of being completely one on one with the music, head buried into the rig and feeling the bass rattle your ribs. It’s all pretty simple but super energetic, the lyrics are literally an instruction. We took huge inspiration from soca letting the super energetic vocals take control of the track.”
Nia Archives aded, “‘Get Loose’ is about getting loose with the gang. It’s us being care free and not caring too much about what everyone else is up to, we just wanna have some fun!”- Nia Archives told Jack Saunders about the song, “So we had this idea to make this kind of Soca jungle tune, because I love Soca Music. And obviously we went to make, like a summer jungle anthem. And then I went to your gaff in Bristol, actually, and then I was working at your home studio. (Cheetah's home studio).”
She continued, “I feel like it's all about the energy. I feel like with jungle, it's just drum and bass bring the energy. And we really tried with the song. Lyrically, to kind of include everyone got a line. All the man done one, all the girl done one, other people want, like, we want everybody to get loose, get involved, have fun.” -
She explained about Soca, “Soca is like a soundtrack of West Indian carnival. I have ever been to Notting Hill Carnival before. You're hearing Soca, and it's really, like kind of related to kind of Carnival culture, mainly kind of Trinidad and Tobago. So as a Jamaican, I can't really climb it, but I respect it, and I love the music.” - source : BBC Radio 1
