Hohnen Ford Teams Up with Birdy for New Song “A Lot To Give”
London-based singer-songwriter Hohnen Ford joined forces with British singer-songwriter Birdy to release a new song “A Lot To Give” on April 16, 2025.
This marks the first collaboration between Hohnen Ford and Birdy.
For Hohnen Ford, the song is the first release under her new label Giant Music.
Meanwhile, for Birdy, the track is her first collaborative single in a year since the 2024 single “Head Up” with Los Angeles-based DJ trio Cheat Codes.
The track was written by Birdy and Ella Hohnen Ford, and produced by Dom Monks.
Hohnen Ford said of the song, “It's been so joyful making this song with Birdy! We met through a mutual friend at a bar in Kings Cross in 2023 and ended up chatting and nicking olives until the early hours. We got on so well, writing a song together felt like a good excuse to hang out more. “A Lot to Give” ended up being about what we carry and what we let go of as we grow as women. The hunger to become more than we've been allowed to be, whilst holding on to that kernel of true self.”- Birdy said, “I've loved creating this song with Hohnen Ford and feeling the atmosphere of our two worlds colliding. I was invited to a show at Union Chapel where I first heard her play and I was blown away by her timeless voice and songs. It's been inspiring getting to know the lovely person and incredible musician she is and to hear how our different musical backgrounds combine, our voices seem to blend with a strange and beautiful eeriness that makes it hard to tell one from the other at times. 'A Lot to Give' gently formed itself very intuitively and the words and chords flowed without us really knowing what we were writing about; it just felt like friends talking about life and playing together for the fun of it, which is really how songs should always be written.”

Hohnen Ford shared on social media, “Written and performed by Birdy and Hohnen Ford. Also featuring the beautiful, Will Sach (double bass) and Luke Potashnick (electric guitar) . What a privilege to have been able to capture this in one live take.! A testament to the musicians in the room. I don't think I have ever listened so hard when playing music before. The whole process of making this is has been very special. Birdy and I spent 2 days writing this song, laughing a lot and chatting, and somehow this quite profound, reflective, sombre song emerged. But that's witchcraft I guess.”
