  • Strange Plants Releases New Song “Horseshoe Smile”

  • Halifax-based psychedelic rock band Strange Plants will release their self-titled debut album on June 6, 2025.

From the album, the band unveiled the third single called “Horseshoe Smile” on April 18, 2025, following “Tell Me All Your Secrets, Pt. 2” and “Dance So Real”.
Happy, trippy, and just the right amount of weird, the track playfully critiques curated digital personas and the exaggerated performances people put on to appear perfect.
The song's title refers to the exaggerated “horseshoe” shape of over-laughed upper teeth.
The track was written by Matthew John Brannon and Travis Alexander Louis Flint. Produced by Robbie Crowell.

The bandleader Matt Brannon said of the song, “The absurdity of life shows up a lot in our songs, and this one wears that proudly.”
  • The debut album comprises 11 songs, which the band recorded in just over a week at the iconic Creative Workshop Studio in Nashville.
The band laid down captured a raw, vintage sound with minimal digital interference—true to their love of old-school recording techniques.
Strange Plants was born from the creative partnership of Travis Flint and Matt Brannon, who are former members of the Halifax NS alt-country collective Hot Mondy.
