Boy In Space Releases New EP “The Butterfly Affect”
Swedish singer-songwriter Boy In Space released a new EP “The Butterfly Affect” on April 18, 2025 via BLNK Music.
It is his first project in almost a year since the 2024 EP “Copium”.
The EP comprises 5 songs, which he recorded in both Tennessee and Sweden, produced by Fredrik Häggstam, Kris Eriksson, Nate Miles, Oskar Widén and Samuel Brandt.
The project connects the polished traditions of Scandinavian pop with the rich storytelling of American country.
Intentionally spelled as “The Butterfly Affect” (not “effect”), the EP is a deliberate exploration of internal growth.
Boy In Space said of the EP title, “I've always been fascinated by the concept of the Butterfly Effect and chaos theory. Over the past year, I've felt something similar happening - not in the world around me, but within myself. So, I decided to name this collection of songs The Butterfly Affect - a reflection of the change I've experienced internally.”- Boy In Space said of the EP, “'The Butterfly Affect' is a bridge into what I'm becoming and the music I was to make in the future. I really spent a lot of time honing my lyricism, and it was so much fun working with more organic elements with these songs than I did with Copium. It's been challenging to let people into the stories of my life, but honestly, it has been so rewarding.”
He continued, “Early last year, something changed for me. It felt like I was finally recognizing myself again. It was a slow process and it took a lot of effort, but over time I found myself both creatively and personally in a different, and maybe even healthier headspace. I've learned that the small, seemingly insignificant moments in between the big ones can have a lasting impact. And those small shifts can make everything feel less overwhelming.”
He added, “The Butterfly Affect” is in full effect. These songs is a reflection of me going through something transformational. In so many ways, I've changed as a person and I pray it shows in what I do. Big words for big occasions.” -
Boy In Space explained track-by-track for the EP.
“Dancing On Dynamite”
“I wrote 'Dancing On Dynamite' earlier this year in Nashville. It being my first time there I got heavily inspired to write something that feels like me but with a touch of country. Drawing inspiration from my own life and experiences, I'm so satisfied with the result. Something new for me, but still very much the same.”
“Too Much To Lose”
'Too Much To Lose' talks about the sensation of wanting someone you've been with but knowing it would just make things so much worse if you would cross that line. And what it's like dealing with that, going back and forth in your own head.
“Take It Easy”
”Being in a position where you have feelings for someone who's unsure or has a past of kicking people to the curb has been something I've experienced, and when I was in Nashville I really wanted to write about it. The want to be with someone you're pretty sure will end up hurting you is a strange one, it's like the highlights you experience are worth whatever hurt is bound to strike.”
“Burning Down The House”
“It's funny how things unfold sometimes:) This one time, I won a competition to make a cover of an Alan Walker song. I twas put his YouTube. A few years later I got the chance to put out a song with him. It now has over 45,000,000 streams. I hope he doesn't remember me from the cover I made. This song is not with Alan Walker.”
“Sway”
“I wrote this song while I was longing to be with someone. Doing the smallest yet most significant things like, swaying, laughing, kissing, crying and what bot.” - source : Apple Music
