OneRepublic Releases New Song “Invincible” from Japanese Animated Film “Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon” Soundtrack
American pop rock band OneRepublic, consisting of Ryan Tedder (lead vocals/keyboards), Zach Filkins (lead guitar), Drew Brown (rhythm guitar), Eddie Fisher (drums), Brent Kutzle (bass) and Brian Willett (keyboards), released a new song “Invincible” from Japanese animated film “Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon” soundtrack on April 18, 2025.
The song is a sequel to “Nobody”, which was released in April 2024 and was used in the ending of Japanese anime TV series “Kaiju No. 8”.
The song is about no matter what happens, no matter how hard it is, there is a moment in time to feel nothing. It's about those moments in life.
Back in January, the band frontman Ryan Tedder posted a video from his hotel room in Tokyo saying, “I just recorded the bridge! The song wasn't done till 30 seconds ago!” and the following day at the Ariake Arena show, the band gave a surprise performance of freshly made the song.
The track was written by Brent Kutzle, Josh Varnadore, Ryan Tedder, and Steve Wilmot. Produced by Brent Kutzle, Steve Wilmot, and John Nathaniel. The accompanying music video was directed by Mike Sunda- The film “Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon”, which was packaged into a feature-length movie for international audiences, is a special episode of TV “Kaiju No. 8”. It focused on one of the most popular characters; Hoshina.
The film was directed by Tomomi Kamiya and Shigeyuki Miya, starring the voices from Nasim Benelkour, Ai Fairouz, and Masaya Fukunishi.
The film was an event-styled screening starting in the United States and Canada on April 13, 14 and 16, 2025. - source : Apple Music
