Mergui Releases New Song “Purple Rose”
Los Angeles-based Israeli singer-songwriter Mergui released a new song “Purple Rose” on April 11, 2025.
The song is the first music since the EP “Nobody Really Knows”, which was released back in January.
As the single, the song follows a cover of American pop duo A Great Big World's “Say Something” released last month.
The track unpacks the heartbreak of giving everything to someone who offers nothing in return.
It was written by Jonathan Mergui, Noga Erez, and Ori Rousso. Produced by Noga Erez, Ori Rousso, and Matan EgoziMergui.
Mergui said of the song, “'Purple Rose' is about the lengths we go to for love, even when it’s unreciprocated. Whether it’s the early days of a crush or the later stages of a draining relationship, the song explores the bittersweet reality of loving someone who doesn't feel the same way about you. It captures the frustration of giving your all - changing, sacrificing, hoping - only to realize that it will never be enough for them.
