MARINA Announces New Album “PRINCESS OF POWER”, Shares New Song “CUNTISSIMO”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter MARINA, formerly Marina and the Diamonds, has announced her upcoming sixth studio album “PRINCESS OF POWER” will be released on June 6, 2025.
This marks her first album in four years since the 2021 album “Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land”. Also it id the first release after she left Atlantic Records in 2022.
From the album, she released the third single “CUNTISSIMO” on April 10, 2025, following “CUPID'S GIRL” and “BUTTERFLY”.
The song is an techno-pop anthem about reclaiming feminine power.
MARINA co-wrote the song with producer Cj Baran. The music video was directed by Olivia de Camps, which is set to premiere on April 12, 2025.
She will perform the song at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the Coachella Valley on April 11, 2025.
MARINA said of the song, “So often, women don't think they're allowed to feel their sexuality in a way that doesn't involve how it looks for men. They feel that it's been co-opted - I would love to be able to free younger women of that, the feeling that our bodies don't quite belong to us.”- The new album comprises a 13-track, co-produced by MARINA and Cj Baran.
MARINA told Rolling Stone about the album, “I had no intention to do a pop record. But I found my creative partner CJ Baran who is just so talented and it's just been such an enjoyable experience. I think that's why the energy of this record feels different: It's part of my evolution as a human being. it's a really fun record. It has a lot of energy.”
She added, “Maybe to others, I've had a bold energy. Internally, I've always struggled to feel like I'm allowed to be my own person. The album is about teaching yourself - or re-teaching yourself - how to love.” - source : Apple Music
