  • AJ Tracey Premieres New Song “Friday Prayer” featuring Headie One & Aitch on BBC Radio 1

  • London-based rapper AJ Tracey premiered a new song “Friday Prayer” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

This time, he recruited British rappers Headie One and Aitch on the track.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming third studio album “Don't Die Before You're Dead”, which is set to be released on June 13, 2025.
The new album is his first body of work in four years since the 2021 album “Flu Game” and comprises a 14-track.
It was written by AJ Tracey, Harrison Armstrong, Irving Adjei, and Nyge who also produced the track.
The accompanying music video was directed by LateMilk.

AJ Tracey told Jack Saunders about the song, “One thing about this record, it was made by my Nyge. He's been producing my records for years. He made pasta and loads of other bangers for me, loads of bangers for other people. But when he gets in his bag, sometimes he'll pull out a beat, and everyone just be like, 'What is this?' And he pulled out, and this was one of them instrumentals. Everyone was like, 'What is this?' And I feel like me, Headie and Aitch we got different flows, and just the way it melded together was just beautiful.”
  • He continued, “It's a little bit different for him, man. But he can float on whatever. So he heard, and he was like, 'Yeah, I'll get on this.' And I was interested to see what flows both of them, to be honest, Headie and Aitch, what flows they're gonna come with. But I feel like both of them are really good at making a song they own. Jumps in and I knew that they both bring something different to it. And kind of the vibe of the song is, obviously on Sundays, you go church, but if you're Muslim, on Fridays, you go Jamaica, I'm saying, so I grew up in a predominantly Muslim area. A lot of my friends and family are Muslim. So for me, it was more about Friday prayer was more significant in my life than Sunday see, I'm saying, so but I can see both angles because my grandma's from Trinidad. She used to pray for me. She goes church. She gets me. So I got all angles. And I thought I'd just get people on from different backgrounds and see what our Fridays look like.”

  • He added, “And I just think we could just do more of the same, which I'm saying, I could come up here me and Jorja (Jorja Smith) could have just went on a on a garage beat me, and Aitch could jump on some sort of, like, proper trappy beat or me, and he could have drilled it up. But the point is like, trying to step outside your comfort zone, giving the fan something new, but also just testing yourself and being like, 'oh, I can do this sound as well.' And it's like, when you're building a legacy in music. I feel like it's immense. You better when you show like variety and being able to change, change your style.”
