Dropsonic Releases New Song “So Long”
Atlanta-based rock trio Dropsonic, consisting of Dan Dixon (vocals/guitar), Chandler Rentz (drums) and David Chase (bass), will release their upcoming self-titled seventh album on May 16, 2025 via Spartan Records.
It is their first album in 15 years since the 2010 album “VI”.
From the album, the band released the second single called “So Long”, following “Honeytrap” released last month.
The track was written by Chandler Rentz, Dan Dixon, and David Chase. Produced by Dan Dixon and William DuVall.
The band frontman Dan Dixon said of the song “'So Long' was the first riff I wrote for this record... it has the feel of something that could've fit on any of our last 3 or 4 albums, until the sweet sounds of a 70's synthesizer and a slide guitar solo kick in...”
The band shared on social media, “'So Long' carries the old fire - until it takes a left turn into 70s synths and a slide solo we chased all the way to the end.”- The new album comprises 8 songs, which the band worked with co-producer and American rock band Alice In Chains' frontman William DuVall.
“Dropsonic” is both a steady upholding of the band's legacy and a bonafide statement about the swagger and grandiosity that lies ahead.
Lyrically, the album explores themes of desperation, love, addiction, narcissism, and money, blending high-fidelity production with raw, spontaneous moments.
Dan Dixon said of working with William DuVal, “William has been a longtime friend who understands what Dropsonic is about. His opinion is one I fully trust, and when I needed an outside perspective, he was the first person I called. He was the perfect advisor throughout this process and even added his backup vocals on 'Honeytrap.'” -
William DuVal said, “Dan had been sending me works-in-progress to get my feedback, but the real joy came from watching Dan work and being a part of the recording process. Dropsonic is simply one of the best rock bands to come out of America in the last thirty years.”
