Suzanne Vega Releases New Song “Chambermaid”
American singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega released a new song “Chambermaid” on April 8, 2025.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming tenth studio album “Flying with Angels”, which is set to be released on May 2, 2025.
The track was inspired by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan's “I Want You”, which was released from his seventh studio album “Blonde on Blonde” in 1966.
It was written by Suzanne Vega and produced by Gerry Leonard.
Suzanne Vega said of the song, “Chambermaid. In my adaptation of Bob Dylan's 'I Want You,' I imagine what the character of the Chambermaid would say about her own aspirations, and her relationship with the great man himself.”
She shared on social media, “'Chambermaid' inspired by a song I've always loved-by an artist who's meant a great deal to me over the years. 'I Want You' by the great Bob Dylan is an unforgettably beautiful song that has stayed with me for years, in melody and meaning. I hope you enjoy 'Chambermaid' as much as I enjoyed making it.”- The new album comprises 10 songs, produced by Vega's longtime collaborator and guitarist Gerry Leonard. It is her first original album in eleven years since the 2014 album “Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles”.
