Samantha Fish Releases New Song “Can Ya Handle The Heat?”
American guitarist and singer-songwriter Samantha Fish will release her upcoming ninth studio album “Paper Doll” on April 25, 2025 via Rounder Records.
From the album, she released a new song “Can Ya Handle The Heat?” on April 4, 2025.
The song is the third and final pre-release single, following “I'm Done Runnin'” and “Sweet Southern Sounds”.
It was written by Katie Pearlman, Samantha Fish, and Bobby Harlow, who also produced the track.
The track is infused with her “bold and expressive” spirit as she taunts a lover.
Samantha Fish said of the song, “I wrote this with one of my long time songwriting partners, Kate Pearlman. To me, it's a sexy, rock n roll invitation. Essentially asking the question, can you handle me? Can you handle the heat?”- The new album comprises 9 songs, featuring a guest appearance from Mick Collins, produced by Bobby Harlow. It is her first album in two years since the 2023 album “Death Wish Blues”.
Samantha Fish delivers each song with gut-punching force, soul-soothing empathy, and newfound clarity.
She recorded the album in Austin at The Orb and Los Angeles at Savannah Studios in the midst of a grueling touring schedule.
The album features touring bandmates Ron Johnson on bass, Jamie Douglass on drums, and Mickey Finn on keyboards.
Samantha Fish said of the album, “'What are my superpowers?' I wanted to lean into my strengths in a way I never completely had before, to make a big guitar album with some epic performances and really sing my ass off. I'd love for this record to be somebody's jet fuel.” -
She continued, “I'd never made a record on the road like that. Even though it was so intense, it felt good to keep up the momentum from the live show. It helped us make an album that's got a real living, breathing pulse to it.”
