Slow Joy Releases New Song “Wound”
Dallas-based Chicano singer-songwriter Esteban Flores, aka Slow Joy will release his upcoming debut album “A Joy So Slow At Times I Don't Think It's Coming” on May 16, 2025 via Mick Music.
From the album, he released the second single called “Wound” on April 4, 2025, following “Gruesome”.
The song captures the intensity and urgency of Slow Joy’s sound, fusing punk energy with melodic emotional depth.
He co-wrote the track with longtime friend and OneRepublic collaborator Josh Varnadore. Produced by Mike Sapone.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jay Martin.
Slow Joy said of the song, “I wrote this song about continuing to grieve my mom after everyone else went back to regular life.”- The debut album comprises 14 songs, produced by Mike Sapone, who also produced Slow Joy's 2024 EP “Mi Amigo Slow Joy”.
The album was recorded at Ghost Hit Recording in Springfield, MA, with additional album sessions at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, TX.
On the album, Slow Joy transforms themes of loss and transformation into cathartic, soaring anthems, blending grunge, emo, and shoegaze. -
