  • The Amazons Premieres New Song “Night After Night” on BBC Radio 1

  • British rock band The Amazons, consisting of Matt Thomson (vocals/guitar), Chris Alderton (guitar) and Elliot Briggs (bass), premiered a new song “Night After Night” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is the fifth single off of their upcoming fourth studio album “21st Century Fiction”, which is set to be released on May 9, 2025 via Nettwerk.
The album is their first LP in three years since the 2022 album “How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?”.
The track was inspired by Jumbo’s Clown Room, a burlesque bar in Hollywood, California.
It was written by Christopher Alderton, David Dahlquist, Elliot Briggs, Matthew Thomson, and Nick Atkinson. Produced by Catherine Marks and Chris Alderton.

The band frontman Matt Thomson said of the song, “What interested us were the guys who’d go there all the time, who became part of the furniture, at the bar night after night compelled to be there, unable to break out. It’s easy to judge, but we all have our habits, some more visible than others. It’s only when we try to hop the fence, that we realise how much of a hold they have over us.”
  • Matt Thomson told Jack Saunders about the song, “I want to set a scene for you to listen to it in. It's 2am you're in a clown themed bikini bar on Hollywood Boulevard at 2am and you feel like you're walking through a dream.”

He continued, “It's a clown themed bikini bar Hollywood Boulevard. I found out about it through Anthony Bourdain and writers like David Lynch and Charles Bukowski had been there before and been inspired by the subterranean grit of it all. And I think with this album, I was as inspired by locations and atmospheres and feelings as much as other music. So I think this is the location. And then the starting point musically for this was Eagles theme, Tyler, The Creator. That was kind of the first idea of creating a beat that I would just like to live in.”

Guitarist Chris Alderton added, “I mean, the sort of conversations that we had in the studio before we started trying to get things down was, if the Amazons were gonna make one final album, what would it sound like? How could we distill the best parts or the parts that we love about us as a band?”

  • The new album comprises 13 songs, which the band recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Wiltshire, Chapel Lane Studios in Hereford and The Retreat in Brighton.
Also, British rock band Royal Blood frontman Mike Kerr helms the track “My Blood”, with contributions from his bandmate Ben Thatcher on drums.
