  • Caity Baser Releases New Song “Running From Myself”

  • Brighton-based singer-songwriter Caity Baser released a new song “Running From Myself” on April 4, 2025 via Capitol Records.

The song is the follow-up to “Watch That Girl (She's Gonna Say It)”, which was released back in February.
Caity Baser co-wrote the song with London-based alt-pop duo Oh Wonder. Also, the track features Motown-inspired performance with Simon Dobson and The Parallax Orchestra.
It was written by Caity Baser, Josephine Vander West, and Anthony Vander West, who also produced the track.

Caity Baser said of the song, “I was in the studio with Oh Wonder working on some songs and one of us said 'it feels like you've been running from yourself'...and inspiration struck. Within 15 minutes the song was basically done, it all just came out so naturally. This song includes the lyric 'I ripped myself up into two / the bad for me, the good for you' - There have been times throughout my career when I would feel very sad or emotional about certain things, and I felt that I couldn't tell anybody, because everyone had this idea of me that I'm this confident, 'I don’t give a fuck, nothing gets to me’-type of person - when actually that could not be further from the truth.”
  • She continued, “People have told me that I’ve helped them with their confidence or to get over their exes, or feel amazing about themselves. For that I'm so grateful, but I felt like I’d have to put on a bit of a mask at times. It is who I am - I'm very energetic and silly, but then also, there’s times where I don’t want to be that. This is one of those songs that makes me want to just run as fast as I can - and scream.”

  • She shared on social media, “When everyone expects you to release bad bitch man eating music but you've fallen in love with a man that's healed you angry heart and now you have no choice but to deal with all your trauma that you've been hiding from behind your previous songs so you've written ur most honest and vulnerable music ever and that second song of many drops at midnight.”

She added, “I’m soooooo happy this song is out, honestly it just sums up my new music because I had to confront things I’d been running away from for so long. Don’t bottle all your emotions divas it doesn’t work !!!!!”
