Ed Sheeran Releases New Song “Azizam”
British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran released a new song “Azizam” on April 4, 2025.
The song will appear on his upcoming eighth studio album “Play”, which is set to be released in 2025.
The track is accompanied by a music video called “Pink Heart Video” directed by Liam Pethick. But the official music video is coming soon.
Ed Sheeran said, “We filmed this across USA (and a bit in Ipswich) whilst promoting the song this month. it was an amazing atmosphere wherever we went, I wanted to reflect that with the video. big up Liam Pethick for pulling out all the stops and making this video so good, and all the fans that went to see the pink hearts all around the world.”
The track was inspired by Persian heritage and culture. “Azizam” is a Persian term of endearment that means “my dear”.
The track was written by Ed Sheeran, Ilya Salmanzadeh, Johnny McDaid, and Savan Kotecha. Produced by Ed Sheeran, ILYA, Johnny McDaid, and Savan Kotecha.- He said of the song, “I wrote Azizam after Ilya Salmanzadeh suggested trying out making music inspired by his Persian heritage and culture. I love learning about music and different cultures the more I travel and connect with people. It was like opening a door to a completely new and exciting world. I loved how a lot of rhythms, scales, melodies and instruments were different but similar to the Irish trad music I had grown up with. It was showing to me music connects us all, and really is a universal language. This whole album is about being playful, explorative, and celebratory.”

Also, Ed Sheeran has filmed every studio session since the lawsuit. He was sued for plagiarism in several cases. Matt Cardle claimed Ed Sheeran's “Photograph” was a copy of the chorus in the song his “Amazing” in 2017. The heirs of the late producer Ed Townsend claimed Ed Sheeran's “Thinking Out Loud” was copying parts of the song “Let's Get It On” with Marvin Gaye in 2018. Musicians Sami Chokri and Ross O'Donoghue claimed Ed Sheeran's “Shape of You” was a copy of “particular lines and phrases” of their “Oh Why” in 2022.
Ed Sheeran said, “I film every studio session I do now since the lawsuit, just to show my writing process if anyone is curious. turns out it makes for great viewing once the song is done.” - source : Apple Music
