  • Mumford & Sons Releases New Album “RUSHMERE”

  • British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, consisting of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals/guitar), Ted Dwane (vocals/bass) and Ben Lovett (vocals/keyboards), released their fifth studio album “RUSHMERE” on March 28, 2025 via Glassnote.

This marks their first album in seven years since the 2018 album “Delta”. Also, it is the first release as a trio after banjo player Winston Marshal left the band in 2021.
The album comprises 10 songs, featuring a guest appearance from American singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham.
“Rushmere” is the name of a pond in Wimbledon Common in southwest London where Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane first hung out and imagined the initial idea of putting a band together.
The band recorded the album with producer Dave Cobb at RCA Studio A in Nashville, in Savannah, GA, and at Marcus Mumford's own studio in Devon, England.

The band bassist Ted Dwane said of the album, “Invariably before we have the confidence to release it in to the world. We're like stress testing it and asking what's people's opinions what they think about it. And I think it's really important to do but a the same time, you know, you get a bunch of people's different opinions. And whilst I think it's important we keep working and make this record the very best it can be. The only dander that's at that's like surrounding this moment is that it might somehow be diluted by committee and different people kind of weighing in. So I am trying to balance this feeling of like I think we got it. I think we should keep it. Scared and preserve the thing that we set out to do. We did it and it's great let's release that.”
  • The band lead singer Marcus Mumford told The Tennessean about the album, “Because we're no longer as rushed as we used to be, the creativity of 'Rushmere' comes from us carving out more space for our (best) artistic selves. Having the time to explore our emotions and dive into how they inspired our creativity (developed) songs that feel like they're doing as much breathing and (engaging in as much) freedom as we are as a band.”

He said of working with producer Dave Cobb, “Once we arrived at Dave's house in Savannah, we began recording in his living room. From there, we played five songs at first. That empowered us to step out in the faith that if we continued to play the chords and sing the songs we'd written, more would come.”

Ted Dwane added, “We revived the intangible excitement that happens when we come together. By having us record in an intimate, domestic setting, Dave simplified our creativity and inspirations. His steady and safe pair of hands created the spontaneous alchemy (reflected in) the energy in the room that we needed at this point in our careers. Dave's animated spirit encouraged us to chase down the truth about how we played and wrote.”

  • The band explained about some tracks for the album.

    “Malibu”
“'Malibu' was the first song we wrote when we got back together in Los Angeles in January 2023. The song just felt like us, and the process of recording it with Dave [Cobb] captured it on record in a way that made us feel it had to open RUSHMERE. We love it.”

    “Rushmere”
“I think this has been the most prolific two years we've ever had as a band. We have a lot of songs to share with you. And it all begins where we started, really, with 'Rushmere'. We're restless to get going, relieved and excited to share this first one with you. and here's the video - thank you to everyone who took part.”
