Evanescence Premieres New Song “Afterlife” from the Netflix Series “Devil May Cry” on BBC Radio 1
American rock band Evanescence, consisting of Amy Lee (vocals/keyboards), Tim McCord (guitar), Will Hunt (drums), Troy McLawhorn (guitar) and Emma Anzai (bass), premiered a new song “Afterlife” on BBC Radio 1's Rock Show with Daniel P Carter.
The song is featured on Netflix animated television series “Devil May Cry” soundtrack, which is set to be released on April 3, 2025.
“Devil May Cry” is based on the Japanese video game of the same name by Capcom.
The song is their first music in four years since the 2021 album “The Bitter Truth”.
The track was written by Alex Seaver of Mako and Amy Lee. Produced by Alex Seaver of Mako and Nick Raskulinecz. Additional Production by Tyler Demorest.- The band lead singer Amy Lee told Daniel P Carter about the song, “This came up through Netflix and the score composer from some of the music from the new Devil May Cry series, his name's Mako, and we've worked together on a Lindsey Stirling track during pandemic. We never met in person, we're computer pals. He had this song started and I thought it was a great start, really cool, kind of an unique direction for the melody in the beginning, but originally it was supposed to be like an Amy Lee thing, kind of a solo thing, and then as it started growing and building, everyone was like, 'This kind of like sounds like it could be an Evanescence song, do we wanna do that?' And I was like, 'Yeah, we wanna do that, lt's get the band in here, let's take this all away,' got into a place and then got into a studio with Nick Raskulinecz, who's done our last two records, we got an awesome working relationship, we just got in there together and really hammered it out and took it there together and had a blast. We just had so much pent up creative energy that we'd been holding on to on the road that now I feel like it's just spilling out of every pore. Feels very good to have new music to listen to.”
