Sam Robbins Releases New Song “The Real Thing”
Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sam Robbins will release his upcoming third studio album “So Much I Still Don't See” on April 25, 2025.
The album was recorded in an old church in Springfield, MA, with sounds built sparingly around solo acoustic guitar and vocals, tracked live just as they are performed.
From the album, he released a new song “The Real Thing” on March 21, 2025.
The song is the third and final pre-release single, following “What A Little Love Can Do” and “Piles of Sand”.
It was written and produced by Sam Robbins.
The song was inspired by driving out of a certain American city on tour, thousands of miles from home, with a 12 hour drive.
Sonically, the track is a tribute to one of his main influences on guitar, the great fingerstyle player Chet Atkins.- Sam Robbins said of the song, “The song is written about my travels through cities across the country, living in Boston and then Nashville, and realizing that I might be a little more of an NH country boy than I thought. It includes possibly my favorite lyric of the entire new album, nestled in the second verse. 'I took a silver elevator / I soared 15 floors up / But it didn't feel much like flying / Towering daggers / Scraping the sky / Builders race towards heaven / I wonder what they'll find.' It's the bounciest song on the album and it was really a guitar exploration to write... it's so fun to play live and I LOVE how it came out on the album!! I was learning the guitar part for Chet Atkins and Dolly Parton's 'Do I Ever Cross Your Mind' when this song just appeared to me.”
