Etherdene Releases New Song “Forsaker”
Oregon-based singer-songwriter Etherdene released a new song “Forsaker” on March 12, 2025.
The song is the second single of 2025, following “You Are My World” released back in January.
The track was born out of a deeply personal experience for Etherdene and delves deep into the emotional complexities of letting go of relationships and partnerships that no longer serve you.
It was written and produced by Etherdene.
“I wanted this to be an upbeat statement song with an empowering message,” Etherdene said of the song. “I wanted it to be something that helps people understand the strength that comes from walking away when things don't work out. Many people emphasize the importance of persevering through tough situations, but one of the hardest decisions is knowing when it's time to let go. 'Forsaker' explores the theme of relinquishing lucrative partnerships that, despite their potential benefits, ultimately diminish one's spirit, create chaos, or make one feel insignificant. I wrote the song as I excited such a partnership in August of last year, and it helped me remember my reasons for leaving especially during moments of doubt.”
She added, “I prioritize relationships and rarely give up on a situation. So, it felt surreal to walk away and 'forsake' it.”- In the track's pre-production, Etherdene used sample drums from “Arcade” (by Output). But this time, she decided to bring in real drums played by Warren van Wyk creating a captivating listen as both drums come through in the final mix. The track was mastered by Elliot James Mulhern.
Etherdene said, “If the drums sound magic, that's why. I am beyond fortunate to work with such talented people on this song. I am such a big fan of each of them, and if someone told me a few years ago that this would all be happening, I'd happy-cry myself to sleep.” - source : Apple Music
