  • Alfie Jukes Releases New EP “All Dressed Up For Nothing”

  • British singer-songwriter Alfie Jukes released his third EP “All Dressed Up For Nothing” on March 21, 2025 via Bedroom Records.

Initially, the EP was supposed to be released on March 7, 2025, but has been pushed back two weeks.
This marks his first project in almost a year since the 2024 EP “Sitting Pretty”.
The EP comprises 6 songs, produced by Jules Konieczny, Rich Cooper and Will Bloomfield.
All songs written by Alfie Jukes alongside co-writers Jules Konieczny, Rich Cooper and Will Bloomfield.

Alfie Jukes said of the EP, “I've been dying for you to hear these songs. I had the most fun putting this project together, and I'm so excited for you to hear that in the music. I'm so proud of how it turned out. Thank you so much to everyone who made this all possible - very very luck to get to work with such amazing people.”
  • Alfie Jukes explained about some tracks for the EP.

    “More Time”
“'More Time' is all about that bittersweet, scary feeling of change and distance in a relationship. It's about me kind of, at first, catastrophising the idea of having to miss someone and then making sense of it realising that, actually, things haven't changed as much as I thought they would. The day of the session, I'd written down in my notepad, 'There's more time to miss you, which I don't think is a bad thing', and I really wanted to use that and put a positive twist on the idea of missing someone.
The verse actually hasn't changed too much [from the first demo] in terms of chords/melodies. We'd found these chords for the verse which I really loved, but I was struggling to write a chorus over it. I was trying to find the right spot for the “You're still the love of my life” line, which I had also written down, but it wasn't landing as strong as I wanted. So, we decided to try something completely different. Rich [Cooper] started playing this chord sequence which felt jarring at first 'cause it just kind of appears out of nowhere, but this is what ended up being the chorus! Once we'd figured out those sections, it all just came together really nicely!
We didn't want anything too complicated [for the bridge]. We wanted to find a sing-along moment, but everything's quite big up until that point so it needed to be a bit of a breather and a bit of a step back before we launch back into the final chorus.”

  • “Sunburn”
“I had the very first idea for this song in my bedroom, and I had a bassline which I was kind of just singing melodies over. I had the word 'sunburn' written down as well, so I think I was kind of working my way around that. It changed quite a bit when I took it into the studio, but [the original] melody actually went on to become the main chorus tune.
[In my session with Will Bloomfield], we just started throwing ideas around before we had any lyrics or melodies. Although, I did have this 'La, la-la, la-la' idea that I'd come up with on the train which we just recorded straight away and played on a loop in the room.
Something we spent quite a bit of time on was the drums. We couldn't really nail it, and we couldn't immediately figure out what vibe we wanted to go for. But I was pretty obsessed with this song by Empire of the Sun called 'We Are The People'. So, we listened to it for inspiration and decided to go more in that direction.”

    “Boys”
“It all started about a year ago when I was really missing my best friend. He was away at Union in Manchester, and we only got to see each other a few times a year. I was feeling pretty nostalgic about things, and I took this into a session with Jules and told him I wanted to write a song about it. We started off by listening to some references. And I was super into The Japanese House at the time, so Jules started making a track, inspired by that sound 'Touching Yourself'.
The verses actually came pretty fast. I'd written a bunch of lines down on the train, which I knew I wanted to use, kind of referenced small moments in the earlier days of our friendship, which kind of only we would get I had the phrase 'I miss those boys' written down in my notes. And I knew I wanted the lyric to kind of focus on that and use that as a hook 'I miss those boys???'.
When it came to the bridge, I wanted something super simple that people could chant and shout out at a gig. 'We had it all so good' felt like the perfect line. We didn't want to overthink the section too much, and so we went straight into recording without any sort of planning, just to see what would happen. Actually the take we got the first time was the take that we used, which is pretty cool. 'Boys' is probably my favorite song that I've ever made. It means a lot to me. I'm super proud of it, so I hope you love it as much as I do.”

    “Againandagain”
“I wrote a groovy song based on the film 'About Time'. Ever loved a film so much that you had to write a song about it?? Probably not. But that's what happened to me with 'About Time'. I've wanted to write a song for a while that was based on a movie and 'About Time' felt like the perfect story to make my own and turn into a fun love song. One lyric I had going into the writing session was actually the name of the song 'Againandagain'. I wanted to write something that felt like a loop like the movie itself where like keeps repeating and the characters get to re-write things. I knew the lyrics would be inspired by the film, but I still wanted them to stand on their own and still feel like me rather than just a re-telling of this story. I would say that my favourite lyric in the whole song is 'make a mistake and I can rewind / patch it up like a pair of old Levis'. Levis please sponsor me. If you've ever wanted to rewind a certain moment in your life then this song is for you. Please also let me know, if you're as obsessed with this film as I am. It's so good.”
