Lemi Releases New Song “Baggage”
Earlier this month, Norwegian singer-songwriter Lemi debuted with the first single “Daggers” via Made Music.
Following the debut song, she released the second single called “Baggage” on March 21, 2025.
The song is a visceral exploration of growing up, where childhood nostalgia collides with the stark realities of adulthood.
It was written by Leah Michelle Hørberg, Robert Reid Gillies, and Thor-Morten Næs. Produced by Robert Gillies and Macab.
The accompanying music video was directed by Roj Ferman.
Lemi said of the song, “‘Baggage’ started as a piano ballad, but it’s about missing the simple days, feeling forced to grow up. ‘No worries, no problems, no responsibility, no emotional damage, no baggage.’ That’s where it began. Is it wrong to want that back?”
She added, “We had no references for 'Baggage'. We just asked, ‘How far can we push this?’”- Driven by empathy and a desire to connect, her lyrics are raw and reflective, drawing from personal relationships and the world around her.
Lemi said of lyrics, “I’m also deeply aware of the issues that impact me and my community and can’t ignore my environment and all the injustice in the world. I start with what’s on my mind, chase a spark, and make the listener feel something.” -
