Mae Muller Returns with New Song “Breakaway”
London-based singer-songwriter Mae Muller returned with a new song “Breakaway” on March 21, 2025.
The song is her first solo music in two years since the 2023 debut album “Sorry I'm Late”.
The track received its first play during BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat.
Also. this marks her first release an independent artist after leaving Capitol Records in 2024.
She wrote the song with producer Henrik Michelsen.
Mae Muller said of the song, “I wrote Breakaway in a time when I felt quite lost as an artist, I was putting so much pressure on myself with my newfound independence, that after a while I just decided to get in the studio and pour everything out and whatever I ended up with, at least it would be a weight off my chest. That was the 13th June last year and has ended up being one of my favourite songs that I've ever written and the start to this new era. It's about navigating vulnerability, but also finding my power within it, whilst not losing the joy along the way.”.- She continued, “I can't tell you what this means to me, this past year was a rollercoaster of emotions and there were times where i honestly couldn't see the day where i released music again (fucking drama queen) but i have never felt so free and happy in a song before, and as an independent artist !!!”
She added, “I made this song with Henrik Michelsen and it was just me and him in the studio, I had no idea what I wanted to write that day I just knew I needed the weight in my chest to subside, so i just let everything pour out and we ended up with one of my favourite songs in the world and the start of this new era.” - source : BBC Radio 1
