Lip Filler Releases New Song “Laugh Track”
London-based indie rock band Lip Filler, consisting of George Tucker (vocals/keyboards), Verity Hughes (vocals/guitar), Jude Scholefield (guitar), Theodore Pasmore (guitar) and Nate Wicks (drums), released a new song “Laugh Track” on March 19, 2025.
The song is the third single since the 2024 EP “witchescrew”, following “Tricky” and “Leeches”.
The band wrote the track in 2024 and recorded to tape in January 2025 with close collaborator and producer St Francis Hotel.
The song explores the pain of watching someone self-destruct and feeling powerless to help.
The band said of the song, “It’s taken us a while but we’re settling into an angsty-emotional rock vibe. Big, loud, passionate. We’re all artists and producers individually in our own right, so Lip Filler as a project is everything that we’d want a band to be: a sound so dense and characterful that you can barely believe it fits into a stereo recording.”- The band vocalist George Tucker added, "Laugh Track is about dealing with someone who is self-destructive, seeing how painful it is looking from the outside in and knowing that there is something that is troubling them but they’re struggling to get it under control. You realise that there is nothing you can do - you yourself feel powerless to help them - and in seeing this one individual case of someone in dire need of love and care, you realise how many instances there must be of the same thing all over the world. The song is about the internal battle we all face every day, and how our individual behaviour in trying to deal with it shapes the world we live in, for better or for worse. And this was all inspired by a date I went on with a girl I met on Hinge. Never a dull moment on that app.”
