Jacob Alon Announces Debut Album “In Limerence”, Shares New Song “Don't Fall Asleep”
Scottish singer-songwriter Jacob Alon has announced their upcoming debut album “In Limerence” will be released on May 30, 2025 via Island/EMI.
The album comprises 12 songs, which Jacob Alon recorded with producer Dan Carey in London.
From the album, they released the fourth single “Don't Fall Asleep” on March 13, 2025, following “Fairy in a Bottle”, “Confession”, and “Liquid Gold 25”.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
It was written by Jacob Alon and produced by Dan Carey.
“This song, to me, floats across the stormy surface of the sea of dreams, gasping against its choppy tide, resisting the soft pull below into an endless deep,” Jacob Alon said of the song. “It’s centred around the story of a cousin of mine who tragically drowned in a freak accident before I was born. I never knew him personally, but I’ve always had an idea painted in my mind of what he’d be like through the memories & stories of my family members. Because of this, I’ve always had a kind of fictional relationship to him. So, this song takes place in the liminal space between worlds, from his fictional perspective.”- They continued, “He would leave behind a son he didn’t know about - tracing circles of life and death. A gift of life born on the other side of that delicate & fragile balance between two worlds. Of loss & gain. And the love & pain which bridges both. It’s also about the moments in my life where living & loving has felt more like an active choice & promise to go on, than a faithful given. Like treading water. Like thinking about breathing. It’s about choosing to keep believing in the real world and not giving in to the seductive world of dreams - to that shy death.”

They added, “In a strange bout of synchronicity, just as I was writing this song, I received a message from my cousin’s brother - who told me the story of how he and my cousin used to pick a record each night to fall asleep to - I found this to be a wildly meaningful coincidence. This brother is also one of the only other musicians in my family and he shared an ambient album* he had made dedicated to his late brother that was intended to be listened to whilst falling asleep.”
