YUNGBLUD Premieres New Song “Hello Heaven, Hello” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter YUNGBLUD is back. He premiered a new song “Hello Heaven, Hello” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song will appear on his upcoming fourth studio album, the title and release date of which have yet to be announced.
The new album is his first body of work in three years since the 2022 self-titled album.
YUNGBLUD started working on the song nearly four years ago, before the third studio album.
The nine-minute track is accompanied by the Charlie Sarsfield-directed music video.
It was written by Adam Warrington, Bob Bradley, Dominic Harrison, and Matt Schwartz who also produced the track.
“Rock music is in my DNA. It’s the first genre I was ever exposed to; I grew up in a guitar shop with my Dad and my Grandfather. Rock music helped me find an identity as a human being,” YUNGBLUD said of the song. “'Hello Heaven, Hello' is the opening statement to my new album. It’s a journey of self-reclamation, a goodbye to the past and how you may have known or perceived me before, and a hello to the future and where I’m going. It sets the precedent for what this album is.”- He continued, “It’s an adventure that’s sonically more ambitious than ever before, a journey that is meant to be played in its entirety that doesn’t for a moment hold back or let its imagination be filtered. I wanted its first moment to be a statement. I’ve been discouraged from releasing a nine-minute-and-6-second song as my first move back in a year because, in a modern world, it’s seen to be a 'risk' - I don’t see it like that at all. I see it as an opportunity. In my opinion, risk is an artist’s greatest tool - putting everything on the line in pursuit of the best evolution and art you can make. Without risk, there is no innovation. I feel like for the first time in a long time, I’m exactly where I need to be and doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing - making exactly what I want - exploring the past, the present, the future, and most importantly, myself. This album feels magical to me, and this is where it starts.”

YUNGBLUD told Jack Saunders about the song, “This is a real moment of self reclamation for me. I think on it, on when I put on my last record, I was really struggling with who I was and who I was gonna be. And this album has taken four years to make. We have put every single ounce of emotion into it. It's 5 days, full of everything I've ever felt so wherever you are, all over the world, listening right now. Hello, ironically, I want you to close your eyes. And I want you to feel absolutely everything, because I've made this for four people who mean so much to me. And I can honestly say I've never been more proud to stand by anything in my entire life. I feel this is a massive cultural reset for me. I feel like this whole album is an adventure. It's an adventure with twists and turns. And I said to myself, if the aliens are gonna find something one day, what is it gonna be? And we really tried my best on this, and I'm so proud. I'm actually weirdly calm. I mean today, I hope you love it. It's a goodbye to the past and hello to what's to come.”
He added, “I went home with Matt, who I have been with since I was 16 years old, and Adam Warrington. I'm worth talking and Adam Warrington, my guitar player, who has been with me since I was 15 years old and started this, and a guy called Bob Bradley, who I've known all my life. And the hardest thing about making the record with them is they don't care about anything else but the truth.”
He shared on social media, “4 years in the making and it all begins Tuesday. I'm happy, healthy, nervous, terrified all at the same time but I have never felt more clear or been more proud to stand by anything I have ever made. we did exactly what we set out to do. this album is an adventure and i want you to close your eyes and get lost in all nine minutes and six seconds of its opening.” - source : BBC Radio 1
