Ruth Lyon Announces Debut Album “Poems & Non-Fiction”, Premieres New Song “Books” on BBC Radio 6
Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Ruth Lyon has announced her debut album “Poems & Non-Fiction” will be released on June 13, 2025 via Pink Lane Records.
The album comprises 11 songs, produced by John Parish.
On the album, forged by her experiences as a disabled woman, she explores the beautiful mess of existence, social norms, and self-acceptance.
Ruth Lyon said of the album, “I have surprised myself with the raw honesty in these songs and I hope these stories inspire healing and growth.”
From the album, she premiered a new song “Books” on BBC Radio 6 Music with Amy Lamé.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Wickerman” released back in January.
The track is accompanied by the Sel Maclean-directed music video.
It was written by Ruth Lyon and produced by John Parish.- Ruth Lyon said of the song, “I was imagining my life as series of poems and non-fiction (which life really is, if you think about it) that at times has felt unreadable, overwhelming, impenetrable, senseless, unreal – a collection that I'll never have time to read. I filmed the video in my house - it's my safe place, somewhere I can inhabit my inner life, somewhere I feel free to imagine and write, rather than read, my own story.”
