Nares Drops New Music Video for “Levitate” featuring 8485
Canadian singer-songwriter Nares has dropped a new music video for “Levitate” directed by Jonathan Matta and Rachael Kross.
The song was released last October for the first time in three years since the 2021 debut song “Boulevards”.
On the track, Nares teamed up with Canadian singer-songwriter 8485.
The track explores themes of transformation, isolation, and connection. Written in a remote country cabin in Guelph, Ontario, the track took shape over a period of years, with 8485 breathing new life into an old demo of Nares' titled “seethru”.
It was written by Cat Trevingt, Jesse Doreen, and Rachael Kross. Produced by Jesse Doreen.
Inspired by their zodiac elements, Water (Pisces) and Fire (Leo), the video explores themes of duality, self-sacrifice, and transformation.- Nares said of the video, “We're two separate beings experiencing the same feeling, like a hive-mind. Emerging from isolation and disillusionment, we seek transcendence by whatever means necessary. It means different things to us, but we're searching for the same thing.”
8485 said, “Filming my scenes in Nares' grandmother's basement with all the fog felt very 'Twin Peaks.' I think we've kind of dedicated this song and video to David Lynch now, especially with his passing.” - source : Apple Music
