Cliffords Releases New Song “Bittersweet”
Cork-based Irish indie pop rock band Cliffords, consisting of Iona Lynch (vocals/rhythm guitar), Gavin Dawkins (bass), Harry Menton (lead guitar), and Locon O'Toole (keyboards), released a new song “Bittersweet” on March 11, 2025.
The song is their first music since the debut EP “Strawberry Scented”, which was released last April.
Also, it is the first release of working with an outside producer Richie Kennedy at Battery Studios in London.
The band fuses a melody-rich, guitar-heavy merging of both shoegaze and grunge, crafting a widescreen and cinematic sound.
The track was written by Gavin Hawkins, Harry Joshua Menton, Iona Lynch, and Locon O'Toole. Produced by Richie Kennedy.
The band lead singer Iona Lynch said of the song, “'Bittersweet' is a more abstract look at nostalgia and our last few years of living in Cork. The first few lines of the song 'the city begged look up' comes from something my grandad always said to me, 'look up or you'll miss half the beauty of the city.'”- She continued, “'Bittersweet' reflects the mixed emotions of us as a band finding our way in music and in ourselves as young adults. The lyrics poke fun at heartbreaks and how dramatic and potent those feelings felt at the time.”
